Developed a method and procedure
to ascertain Working Load limits for a range of abattoir equipment.
In the absence of an appropriate
Australian Standard. the project involved researching similar standards, and
design approaches to develop a methodology to ascertain Working Load Limits (WLL)
for abattoir hooks, slides and rollers.
After the methodology was determined,
the calculation of the WLL involved Finite Element Analysis, Tensile Testing
and Weight Loading. The Statistical Analysis of the resultant loads led to the
selection of appropraite Safety factors being developed and applied after
taking into account fatigue and nature of use.
